A Guide To Inks

Close To My Heart now sells several kinds of inks, the information below can be helpful to understand the different types.

Exclusive Inks™ stamp pads: Our Exclusive Inks™ stamp pads, including our Black Exclusive Inks pads, are water-based dye inks. The dye ink absorbs directly into your paper and allows the colors to blend easily with the material. They dry quickly and blend easily. These inks are recommended for most stamping projects, but not for projects where you plan on using watercolors or coloring with alcohol markers after stamping the image.

Archival Black Exclusive Inks™ stamp pad: Our Archival Black Exclusive Inks™ stamp pad is our archival ink offering. This pad quickly sets an image that you can then color in using watercolor pencils, watercolors, or water-based inks with the blending pen.

Exclusive Inks™ Mini Pigment Pad Sets: Pigment inks behave differently from dye inks, in that they settle on top of your material rather than soaking into it. This allows you to stamp lighter colors on darker materials and to keep the true color of the ink pad when stamping on another color. Though they take longer to dry, when dried, they work well for coloring in with your markers or watercolor inks, as the pigment inks will form a permanent bond and will resist blending when you color over them.

StazOn™ ink pad: StazOn™ is specifically formulated for stamping on non-porous materials. Because StazOn is solvent-based, this ink works well when stamping an image that you will later color over with watercolors, but it is not ideal for use with alcohol markers.

Memento™ Tuxedo Black ink pad: The Memento™ ink pad gives you another archival quality ink pad that works for any stamping project and can be used with alcohol markers, watercolors, or any of our other coloring options.

On January 17th at  2 pm we'll make layouts from the Zoe Workshop Kit.

Birdcage Birthday Card

Here's a Birthday card I made for my niece using the Close to My Heart Artfully Sent circuit cartridge. This was so easy to make, then I decorated it with embellishments from my stash.

16 Christmas Cards

I went through all my stamps and pulled out the Christmas ones and I love so many of them so I decided to make a batch of card bases so I can make a variety of cards.

Using the Wishes card pattern book, I chose the "Season's Greetings Workshop" pattern that allows you to make 16 cards from one piece of patterned paper, one sheet of coordinating cardstock, and one sheet of white cardstock. 

You can use remade card bases or cut your own. This workshop is based on 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" cards. If you choose to make your own bases, you cut the cardstock at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", then fold in half.

After finishing the basic card patterns I have 16 cards - two of each design, ready for stamping and embellishments.

December 5th - Christmas Cards and Tags

On December 5th  I'll be working on Christmas Cards and Tags and I'd love to have you join me. Bring your own projects to work on or make cards, tags and little gifts that I'll have ready for you to assemble. I'll have the supplies ready for you to make as many cards as you would like for about $1 per card. We'll start at 1 and go as long as we want. ALS Fundraiser!

This month I'm hosting a Close To My Heart fundraiser to raise money for ALS. During this fundraiser 20% of all purchases will be donate to ALS.

As many of you know, my Mother died from ALS less than two years ago. This is the third year my entire family will be participating in the Walk To Defeat ALS. We have raised over $5,000 in the last two years and we believe this is making a real difference in the short remaining lives of those suffering with this terrible disease.
